John Oswald’s Plexure
This is what I
imagine the expression “your life flashes before your eyes” sounds like. It is
a mixture of everything and nothing. I struggle to find any rhythmic sounds or
patterns and maybe that is what makes it special but to be honest.. This gave
me a headache and to be even more specific it is giving me a headache as I am
typing this. I am trying to tune into the artistic aspect of the music but it
is quite difficult because of the constant change in musical genres and
direction. One second could be hip hop and the next could be country. I
definitely never heard anything like this before.
Although I do
not particularly enjoy listening to this, I am amazed by the imagery it
constructs in the listeners brain. It made me think of someone, who is
constantly changing the radio channel and is not able to decide what he/she
wants to listen to, a possibly possessed television or the anthem of a spotify
AI revolution against humans. This music completely feels like it is made to be
against humans and not for them. This leads me to believe that it is indeed not
consumer-oriented but more experimental and aiming to be perceived as a
commentary on society.
This music is
the playlist of a lifetime on double double-speed. It consists of everything,
you do not know where it is going or what you are getting next. It shocks,
annoys and intrigues the listener. Yet, Because of the abundance of elements it
ended up being a frantic, chaotic ride instead of pleasant, calm road trip.
